What to expect

At the appointment your child's weight and height will be measured as part of the nutritional assessment and a detailed medical and diet history taken.

If you have not been referred by your GP or consultant, Joan may need to contact them prior to or after the consultation but this will be with your consent.

Nutritional advice will be tailored to your child’s individual circumstances and goals will be set in discussion with you. There will be the opportunity to discuss any concerns and questions you may have.

Joan will aim to provide all the advice you need in one appointment, however, depending on your child’s symptoms or medical condition, a review appointment may be recommended to help monitor progress and address any issues that have arisen following the implementation of dietetic advice.

In certain circumstances it may be more beneficial to the treatment plan to observe your child eating in your own home, but this will be advised during initial contact (a small extra cost is entailed for a home visit and is restricted to within a 10 mile radius of Winchester).

All appointments are confidential, and medical information is stored under Data Protection Regulations.
